Palmer Park in Detroit is a 298-acre publicly owned park just outside of Detroit, Michigan's Palmer Park Apartment Building. It is officially called the "John D. Palmer Park", after U.S. Senator Thomas E. Palmer, who originally created the park while he was giving a speech commemorating the end of the nineteenth century. The park was established with an intention of providing a recreational space for residents of the city's far West Side. The area was often poor and had little in the way of recreational options other than being a place to live. Palmer Park was designed to fill this need by providing a venue for various community activities. The park features eighteen public links, nineteen premium greens, and two tennis courts. Two championship golf courses, one featuring the Wormser Park and the other named by Senator Palmer, are also available to play on. The Liberty Bell is a legendary symbol of American freedom, situated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It has played an important role in our history and is regarded as one of the best sights in the city. The Bell was originally built by a foreman in 1793 as a phone device for the workers of the American Revolution. This was to serve as an early warning for farmers that they were approaching a dangerous situation. The telephone line connected the bell to a box that was later smashed by a British soldier and killed. The bell was then crushed and the lid was replaced by a wooden case, hence the name, Liberty Bell. Today, the bell can still be seen in Independence Hall. This historical attraction in Philadelphia is dedicated to the sacrifices made by many Americans during the Revolutionary War. Visitors can hear the history as they listen to a bell chime each day.
