Lake Tawakoni State Park

  Located in Hunt County, Texas, Lake Tawakoni State Park is a popular outdoor recreation area. It is a state park located on the south-central shore of the lake, about 11 miles north of Wills Point. To get to the park, you can take the I-45 north to I-75 exit 114 in Wills Point. There are several trails in the park that lead to the beach and a number of picnic areas. Visitors to Lake Tawakoni State Park can enjoy the sun and sand. The park has 78 campsites, 16 with full hookups, and 60 without. Each site offers water and electricity, picnic tables, and a sandcastle-building area. The campground also has flush toilets. It is one of the few in Texas that has modern RV campgrounds. Camping at Lake Tawakoni State Park is free and does not require a fishing license. The park has many miles of trails and miles of shoreline. Visitors can enjoy birding, geocaching, and hiking.
