Independence National Historical Park is probably the largest local attraction in Philadelphia. It's America's oldest national historic square mile, which houses the original home of the United States of America as well as other significant landmarks. Both attractions do not require an admission fee, although you will need a complimentary, timed-ticket pass to enter Independence Hall. It's a great way to see the history of Independence, both ancient and modern, and it's a good activity for families with children since there's a lot to see and do.
